Congratulations to Wright State at +7 on the road in Youngstown as Thursday’s Bullshit Line Of The Night. Here’s YSU head coach Jerrod Calhoun with his pregame interview.

When the head coach says of an upcoming opponent, “I think they’re hungry. I think their sense of urgency is at an all-time high.” it could be a motivational tactic. When that same coach can’t look at the camera as he says it though, it’s a real problem. YSU’s coach knows a shit storm is coming. Thursday night that shit storm is a team with four starters who played in the NCAA tournament a year ago. Wright State visits Youngstown tonight in an must-win game on the road as a seven point favorite. After losing to Northern Kentucky on the road in a one possession game last Friday, they need a win at YSU to keep pace in a wide-open Horizon League. Wright State was selected to go first in their conference this year by multiple publications but haven’t lived up to those expectations. The good news for a struggling Wright State team? The Horizon League is a mess.
What kind of ass-backward shit is going on with the Horizon League in 2019? Detriot Mercy is leading the conference but stands at 8-10 overall. Oakland is third in the conference with an 8-11 record. I guess even 6-13 YSU is still kind of in it. Moral of the story here is anything can happen in the 2019 Horizon League. Detroit Mercy was 3-9 a month ago and now has a shot at the NCAA tournament. Unfortunately for YSU head coach Jerrod Calhoun, Wright State smells blood and he knows it. Coach Calhoun also knows Wright State senior Marcus Hughes is playing his final game at Youngstown’s Beeghly Center, only a short walk from where Hughes played high school hoops at Ursuline Catholic. A pre-season 2nd team selection for the Horizon League, Hughes will be a local draw tonight and this might be the biggest home crowd YSU plays in front of all year. Which is bad for YSU. Wright State will take out their aggression from a tough loss six days ago in front of a large group of on lookers.
Why is this the bullshit line of the night? No way an 8-10 team should ever be a 7 point favorite on the road. This Wright State team is geared to make another run at the NCAA Tournament so you can throw out their record. The oddsmakers couldn’t put this line any higher without drawing attention to an obscure game and prompting big money to hammer the money line. Not happening so much at the current -300. Also the spread should be closer to -11 for Wright State. Marcus Hughes and Wright State win easily tonight in Youngstown and begin their ascension back up the Horizon League Standings.
